The Living D Life Story

summer, beach, seagulls
Livin D Life is a family business, located in Tampa, FL. My husband, Cisco, and I look forward to providing you with the highest quality product and top tier customer service.
A few years ago, our 2 tween-aged children approached us begging to attend a very expensive summer camp program run by MOSI, Tampa’s museum of science and industry. Instead, we all settled for a more moderately priced summer program and free Saturday classes at the nearby Tandy Leather store. For 4 weeks we watched from the back of the room, as our children were taught to carve designs onto leather and use tools to give texture and 3D effects. For each child, we bought a starter kit of a hammer, a few stamping tools, dyes and piece of veg tanned leather. They loved the classes and presented us with an update on their projects every evening. We were very proud parents!
But as we began to approach the next school year, their interest in leather carving evaporated. The tools were relegated the floor of the closet under soccer cleats and backpacks. Until “Closet clean-up day” when we were gifted the leather tools by both children -separately. The tools sat in Amy’s craft studio for weeks. Then one Saturday, we found ourselves longing for those early summer days of our children’s creativity and pride. We sat down with the remaining scraps of leather and began to trace, carve and stain a design, just as we had witnessed our children do. We were instantly hooked, our brains spinning with a thousand project ideas. Check out our gallery to see some of our hand-made art pieces.
With the addition of a CO2 laser machine to our art studio, we are finally able to fulfill our longtime dream of using handbags as a canvas for our artwork. Each Livin D Life bag is hand crafted in limited quantities, so you can be assured that this wearable art will empower you to express your individual style.

Our Process

Step One:
We use the Boss CO2 laser machine to quickly and precisely transfer the design onto the leather.
Step Two:
The art piece is then hand tooled and hand painted.
Step Three:
The artwork is attached to a highest quality purse, using metal rivets and industrial grade adhesives. These assure that your handbag is ready to bring you joy for years to come.

We sincerely hope that each art piece brings you the joy that we felt, crafting it!
